The Day My Father Found Out I Was Gay...

This was written by Henry O. Abeg read it like you see it
..... No fullstops lolx!

The news of the death of the lady who 'outted' me to my parents when i was yet in school hit me like a thunderbolt on a bumpy boat ride on the rough Niger delta waters. she had expected my dad to tear me to pieces, but I had struck a cordial relationship with my dad early in life,I had met every target he set for me,I had made him proud with my academics,i wasn't the genius or the wizkid in school, but I always delivered each time he set a target for me to hit. so even though I knew this man who has become my dear friend and father would hate the idea of his son being gay, note he wasn't a religious man, when he was told by this lady,he brushed it off, affirming to her she must be confused, his son was not gay,my dad commanded immense respect,I dare say most people were scared of him secretly including me,lol, and so he told this lady she was wrong about his son,and advised her to concentrate on grooming her own kids, she immediately backed down, but she was right and she knew it,but no one wants to antagonise the 'union's general' as my dad was called in the cycle of socialist trade unionism in Nigeria during the evil days of military rule, but my dad was ever so precocious, even though he rebuked this lady,he still knew there was no smoke without fire,so on one of our usual evening driving lessons,he raised the subject, there was no hate in his tone, neither was there a hint of acceptance,he just made it clear to me life was going to be rough if I was gay, from the look in his eyes i saw the worries of what a hateful society would do to his beloved and delicate boy,he knew he wouldn't be there always to protect his child, the delicate boy who has become his friend too,but that relationship helped me alot,he didn't make me feel that I was a freak or something hateful,he just made it clear I should expect no acceptance from society and those around me,but we ended that on a solemn note and pretended that conversation never took place, nothing changed,I remained his beloved delicate boy,he trusted me more than his heterosexual heir, infact knowing what I was,he left his entire family and estate in my care even though I wasn't his natural heir,it shocked even this homophobic lady. past years i have favored the catholic Latin rituals,it was practically the only thing close to the opera around me since I left the cradle of university education in Nigeria. so on some jolly good Sundays I do go and am usually intrigued by the Gregorian chants,I see this lady and i knew her time was near, she looked pale and sick, but I reminded myself,i may yet go before her,so I exchanged pleasantries with her as is expected of someone who is younger than her first son,I never bothered about the past or what she might still think,I just did my duty and went my way,so hearing that she is dead,I do wish her a peaceful rest, sometimes I wonder where homophobes go to if indeed there was an after life, certainly don't want them around me in the after life, imagine an eternity with a bunch haters. she must have seen the recent gains in the global gay community she may have wondered if indeed I was part of the gay agenda, lol,I do wish her eternal rest and hope she finds peace with her creator in the after life if it exists in any form. I still remained true to myself, running the little estate as dad decreed, being fair to all and keeping his family intact most importantly. I remain single until the right to marry my choice is restored.in the hood,I am the mysterious happy bachelor and perhaps happier than most of the married peeps around me,some of them cant come to terms with the share audacity of my humanity and total disregard for social acceptability!‪#‎love

2 Gay Men Fall to Their Deaths During Hot Sex Romp in France

A couple fell to their deaths while having sex on the high walls of a historic castle in northern French.

Police confirmed they discovered their bodies naked in a dry part of the moat of the Vauban Fort in Chausey Archipelago in the English Channel.
Their belongings were discovered at the top of the castle on ramparts 40ft above.

Police say the body of the man, aged 31, was found first on Thursday morning in a dried out part of the moat.
His partner, also 31, was discovered later, submerged in water only 5ft deep (1.5 metres).
Police told local media: 'The couple were found naked, with their belongings above.

My Gay Life In Nigeria - Isolation, Danger & Fear Homophobia

Ethan Regal tells his personal story of living in Nigeria as a gay man:

When I was a young boy in Lagos, Nigeria, I had a mysterious, unexplainable tingling sensation whenever I saw an attractive guy. The stories I heard regarding romance involved a boy and girl. So I thought to myself: maybe I’m a girl deep down. That seemed like the only explanation for my attraction.

I kept thinking that may be God made a mistake. Perhaps I was meant to be a girl. I never had issues with my body. I wasn’t interested in getting rid of my joystick or growing breasts. I just thought that in order to be with a boy I have to be a girl.

Gay people in Nigeria were invisible - constantly hiding. We never had TV series or movies with gay characters so I was confused. All I knew was that people discussed homosexuality with so much disgust.

At the age of nine or ten, depression kicked in as I realised my family would hate me if they learnt the truth. Even in school, I was bullied by classmates. My friends made fun of my femininity. I tried to blend in by playing sports but I was terrible. I had only one friend and he was feminine as well - but not gay. The two of us were frequently bullied, physically and emotionally. Most nights we contemplated suicide. We even talked about poisoning the guys who attacked us. It sounds crazy but picture yourself in a boarding house stuck in there day and night for months with boys relentlessly attacking you.

Here in Nigeria I haven’t met a single gay guy, at least not one that I know of. I have tried chatting to some men through Grindr but I fear someone might track me and arrest or kill me.

Although I’ve been chatting online with a guy for a year we’ve never met. He advised me that the best way to survive is to live a sexless life. There’s no one to trust and if you get HIV securing proper treatment is very rare. Yes, it’s that bad.

I have spent most of my life living in fear. I have very little freedom in Nigeria.

Life is dangerous. I saw a video at an online news site where two suspected gay men were being beaten to death with planks of wood; their blood splattered on the ground. I saw the crowd watching. Kids were among the onlookers. No one did anything to stop their murder.

Another video I watched this year shows a mob surrounding two Unclad men in a derelict building; forcing them to have sex as a way of degrading them. One Unclad man tugs the joystick of the other on the orders of the vigilantes. The eyes of the Unclad men flicker through the crowd with fear. A member of the crowd punches the man whose joystick is being tugged and shouts at him to become erect and penetrate the other man. Once erect, he enters him. One of onlookers asks, “Has it entered?” Everyone in the crowd is recording this moment on their phones. This is Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in 2014. The vigilantes are, apparently, 'normal' people, yet they are deliberately terrorising and humiliating two men suspected of homosexuality.

My mother told me about a gay man who flirted with a male hairdresser at a salon. The hairdresser wasn’t gay and immediately took offence. He yelled and alerted a crowd of people who gathered around the gay man, hurling insults and assaulting him.

There was a time when newspapers published the names, addresses and photographs of some of the House of Rainbow Metropolitan Community Church members. It’s an LGBT-friendly church and several members were threatened and beaten.

I know about gay men being raped and the gang rape of a lesbian - all by straight men. This isn’t about sex or sexual orientation. It’s all about power, violence and malicious homophobic abuse.

Early this year, suspected gays in the northern part of Nigeria were reportedly caught and stoned to death. The consensus is that homosexuals deserve it, and that the country needs to be cleansed.

Also, I’ve heard about guys who flirt with gay men just to lure them into a death-trap. They deceive the gay guy and invite him to a certain place where other homophobes are waiting to attack. I think this was how a guy I used to chat with on Grindr died. His corpse was found in pool of blood in a hotel room that was booked by some guy and his friend.

When the anti-gay Bill was passed by President Goodluck Jonathan earlier this year, he had a lot of supporters. Most Nigerians claimed it was the only way to avoid the country becoming the modern Sodom and Gomorrah. They forgot that in Genesis 19, when the men from Sodom besieged Lot’s house, they wanted to gang rape the angels which had come in the form of men. Lot offered them his daughters instead but they refused. It wasn’t about homosexuality.

Among those supporting the new homophobic legislation were the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria, Adada Media Forum and Jama’atu Nasril Islam. Prominent individual backers included the national publicity secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum, Anthony Sani; Senator Rowland Owie; and Director of Social Communications at the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Monsignor Gabriel Osu.

Elder statesman and veteran politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, said: “President Jonathan should be commended for taking a bold step to sign the Bill into law. Same-sex marriage is not only alien to Nigeria but to the entire African continent.”

The Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria president, Chief Udo Udeogaranya, said the new homophobic law would preserve and sustain African culture. But he wants the government to go further:

“We urge members of the National Assembly and the President to consider filtering and censoring programmes being disseminated into the country from the Western media, as another major step in protecting our young ones from immoral and uncultured views.”

There’s poverty, poor education and a high unemployment rate in Nigeria but the government chooses to focus on homosexuality.

This is a country where people die from Boko Haram bomb explosions, car accidents due to bad roads, a high crime rate and poor healthcare, yet the majority of people support the government's claim that homosexuality is the main issue in Nigeria. You can only argue against this anonymously and online. Anyone who does so is bombarded with abuse and accused of being gay.

I’m sick of hearing this homophobia - and hiding. I’m speaking out because keeping quiet hasn’t done us any good. I’m speaking out because I had a taste of freedom for the first time when I was studying in England and I want to taste it again. I want it to linger this time. I want to share that freedom with other gays in Nigeria. I want everyone to be proud of who they are. The majority of Nigerians need to be properly educated. Their fear is a product of misunderstanding.

I have argued with some homophobic Nigerians and from what I noticed they hate gays because they were told to hate us by their religion. They also think: “Gay people are not like us, therefore they are bad.”

They have zero clue what it’s like to be gay, which from my perspective gives them a better reason not to judge. Besides isn’t it a sin to judge? Isn’t it a sin to kill? Jesus stopped those men from stoning the adulteress in the Bible but these Nigerians, these Africans persecuting homosexuals in the name of God, have forgotten the actual the word of God.

I know I’m not safe; none of us are. If we aren’t being persecuted we’re living in another hell, pretending each day that we’re just like everyone else. Lying to ourselves and depriving ourselves of a brighter future. Do we want to spend our lives sexless? If we get into a relationship do we want it to be hidden forever? Most of us want to have kids? How do we get there? That’s why I’m speaking up.

How to Avoid KITO Situation as a Nigerian Gay or Lesbian

Therre are many gay and lesbian blackmailers in Nigeria. This blackmail popularly called "Kito" is ignored by the Nigerian government and other security agencies, allowing this rogues to defraud citizens! Here are some tips to ensure you don't fall into their trap;

1) As much as you can try to meet mew people only through mutual friends.

2). Try to minimize sex related chats with new acquaintances to prevent it from being used against you if it turns out to be a kito situation.

3). Meet new acquaintances first in public places and not at their houses.

4). Always have a back up plan, for example if you are about to scammed, show no fear and scream if it's a place (e.g compound), with other residents. This will attract attention and can save you from being scammed if you can claim with evidence that the defrauder was trying to harm you, you might be saved. A friend if mine who was in such a situation recently in Ikorodu, screamed for help claiming he was deceived that the scammer wanted to offer him a job. He showed a CV which he carried in his bag and that saved him.

5). Try to new people first on your own grounds.

6). Even if sex is about to happen, ensure the guy is almost naked if not completely naked before you strip yourself.

7). Avoid people with fictitious stories and so many lies they confuse themselves.

8). If you see strange faces in a house you are about to hookup, find a way to leave without much fuss.

9). Beware of anyone who is always SEX inclined, some of them are scammers.
10). Inform your close friends or family where you are headed to for security reasons.

11). Don't make sex a priority, make sure you trust your instincts... My dear you musn't sleep with everyone... Don't forget to always go with your condom sha, incase sex happens.

HAVE YOU GOT ANY EXTRA SUGGESTIONS, BIKO DROO IT IN THE COMMENT SECTION!

Top Rugby Player Keegan Hirst Talks About How Being Gay Affected Him

Rugby star Keegan Hirst has opened up in an interview with Radio 5 Live this morning, explaining how he felt his being gay was only just a phase and how his sexuality eventually led to the end if his marriage which had produced 2 kids. He told the interviewer:

“I wasn’t…in torment or in turmoil every day for the last 27 years. It’s not like that.

“I suppose you’d get urges – in my head I thought, ‘these’ll go away, this is just a phase’.”

“I knew I was different when I was 11 or 12. I wasn’t necessarily attracted to lads then, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

“When I was 15/16 those feelings started coming back through… and then by 18/19 – I suppose look back now I was in denial – but in my own head I had no conception that I was gay.”

“I couldn’t say to myself, in my own head – ‘I think you’re gay’.

“To say it out loud would make it real, to admit it and I wasn’t in a place in my own head where I could do that.”
The rugby star also spoke about when that changed and how he never had a ‘eureka moment’.

He continued;

I suppose mostly my outlook on thing’s must’ve changed… I became more accepting of it in my own head and I could say it.”

I Think I'm a Lesbian...

It all happened on one of those hot harmattan nights, when I sat with my friend Oge at her off campus apartment eating some suya whilst drinking Don Simon. We were talking relationship woes, following my bad breakup with my then boyfriend, Nnamdi, and I desperately needed someone to talk to and Oge being my friend and close confidant for the past six years had offered, not only her ear, but the comfort of her home food and drink...

‘So what happened?’ she questioned.

‘Same old…I think he’s having an affair with someone else,’

‘You think or you’re sure?’ Her eyes narrowed, making me cringe, and I didn’t want to sound like a woman who just jumped to conclusions.

I think…well…I saw a text messages’, I sighed. Oge sipped her drink, lost in thoughts as I wondered whether I could confess about the real problem. I had fear of intimacy. In fact, Nnamdi failed to turn me on. I enjoyed intimacy, no doubt about that, but I loved it only when I touched myself.

‘That guy…’ she muttered angrily. ‘I think you should give him a piece of your mind.’

‘It’s entirely not his fault…’ I began, staring at my friend who had stood by side through thick and thin. I’d decided never to tell anyone about my problems, but I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Moreover, I hoped Oge would understand and wouldn’t judge me.

‘Don’t blame yourself Chika. I –’

‘No I’m not blaming myself. It’s just…hard to explain,’ I sighed. ‘I don’t know what the problem is but I just don’t get turned on with him,’

Oge I had health issues. Tears pooled in my eyes as I looked away, but she came closer to me and hugged me, trying to comfort me. I clung to her as though my life depended on it and began to sob, uncontrollably.

‘Talk to me,’ she said, in a calm voice. I struggled to control the bile rising up my throat. I was experiencing a mixture of emotions I’d never felt before. Embarrassed that I had acted like a child, I released my hold on her, but strangely I had felt calm when she’d held me. Oge held out a tissue for me and I meekly accepted, struggling to get a hold of myself.

‘This isn’t the first time it’s happening…My past relationships…It was the same problem there too. I thought that it was a complication from his end, but surely after I’ve broken up with three different men, I think the problem lies within me. Who would want a woman who just doesn’t get aroused?’

‘Why didn’t you tell me all this earlier?’ she asked, raising her eyebrows.

‘I was really embarrassed. I only…I…I only get satisfied when…

I Was Born Gay... Yes I Was!

Happy new month. I'm trying to find out the reason this feelings keep on coming. I do nothing but wonder, the origin of it, i tried finding out if am truly gay born as some gays will say, they were born that way...

Well i started having this gay feelings at an early age of 9-10. It began with a friend, who was about the same age with me, sometimes when we played and hung out in a secluded places we would eventually begin touching other. No body corrupted me, no uncle fiddled with me...

We couldn't understand this was homosexuality, neither did we know what was gay then. When my family eventually moved out of that area, i met another guy. In ways i couldn't explain, i noticed w always kept staring at him and having inexplicable likeness for the fellow. I eventually discovered the true definition of homosexuality in my secondary school days. Then the act was committed in secret, with the fear and guilt that it was a sin. Owing to the guilt, i wasn't my self to it even though the feelings were too strong for me. In secondary school i did not do the penetration thingy, but however enjoyed touching or sometimes choking on the "D" of a wiling colleague, all that happened during my secondary school days.

I took an 2 year break trying to figure out what was wrong with my person. In that period, i met a pastor, told him everything and he prayed for me... i fasted, wept and plead with God to take the feelings away, yes i do believe in God, because i was raised that way, but nothing happened. Mind you, some people assume that because i have not had sexual intercourse with a woman, that if i did the feelings will go. So for a year following the 2 year break, i tried to become a ladies man. I was the toast of women in my department and at home during the holidays, yet i felt zilch satisfaction towards them, but rather a hot longing for boys...

I have made peace with myself and so far in journey i have made a mental acceptance that i was born a homosexual... I will be what i was swet out to become, i will achieve and surpass expectations but i will never let stereotypes or my sexuality define me.

 *Deinde
